HR 3314...would halt the entire program nationwide. It has 46 co-sponsors, and the recent attacks are likely to garner more support for the bill.
Obama enthusiastically doubles down on his quest to destroy America by flooding our country with unvetted refugees from Syria, one of the world’s most notorious hotbeds of jihadist activity.
Despite the fact that FBI Director James Comey explicitly warned Congress that the U.S. does not have the ability to screen Syrian refugees because data on their background history does not exist. Of course it does not exist! Syria is a failed country with a government that has absolutely zero interest in cooperating with American demands for information. Even if Bashar Al-Assad happened to be our best friend in the world, Syria has no database of those wishing to immigrate to America. Vetting potential terrorists could only be done by self-attestation, which obviously would be pure insanity. Additionally how can a government that cannot even get an Obamacare website right be expected to get a terrorist list right?
However, Obama still ignores the threat to America despite the history and all the warnings. Muslim terrorists just hit a hotel in Mali. The week before that, 133 Parisians were killed and 350 injured by Muslim terrorists and at least one of the seven attackers in Paris had a Syrian passport and entered France as a “refugee.” The Washington Times also reported that Minnesota’s Somali population has been infiltrated by Islamist terror organizations. Al-Shabab made a propaganda video warning of an attack on shopping malls around the world, including the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. And since 2008, the New York Times reported as many as 40 men from Minneapolis have joined Islamist groups after being pulled in by jihadists through social media. And remember this is the SAME UNITED NATIONS ‘REFUGEE’ PROGRAM that brought us the Boston Marathon bombers who killed three and wounded 264 AND the Chattanooga Islamist who targeted and murdered five of our military men in Tennessee.
You would think that the GOP would finally say enough and stand up to this anti-American tyrant, Obama. But think again.
Ultraliberal GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham wants to import the threat while ironically calling for war abroad. He pushes for more Syrian Muslims to pour into American cities and towns as purported “refugees.” So he is co-sponsoring legislation with Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., to nearly double the amount of funding Washington spends on resettling refugees from Syria.
Other GOP have chosen to conduct more show-votes, like the American Safe Act, rather than pass any real substantial legislation to protect America from the likelihood of terrorists slipping in through this refugee program.
The American SAFE Act provides no protection for the interests of the American people. It is based on a flawed premise that vetting terrorists is actually possible. As we all know, under the current circumstances, there is no way to vet Syrian refugees.
The American SAFE Act also allows the President to continue to bring in as many refugees as he wants from anywhere in the world. Regarding Syria and Iraq, this Act only requires that the President direct his Secretary of Homeland Security, Director of National Intelligence, and FBI Director (all his appointees) to sign off on the administration’s screening process.
As usual when it comes to Congress and Obama, this bill transfers the prerogative from Congress to Obama and ensures the President’s refugee resettlement initiative will continue unabated. More power transferred from Congress to Obama, with Congress being fully complicit.
Rather than show-votes, what Congress needs to do is use the power of the purse strings. Obama demanded more than $1 billion to fund the Refugee Admissions Program. All Congress has to do is refuse to fund his unreasonable and dangerous demands.
It should be Congress, not Obama, that has the final say on how many refugees are brought into the United States and from where.
Each year the U.S. permanently resettles more than 100,000 Muslim migrants inside the United States, at a cost to taxpayers of over $65 billion. Then going forward, taxpayers are left on the hook for the tens of billions of dollars in uncapped welfare, education, and entitlement costs certain to accrue. Thus, in addition to the enormous welfare costs – 91% of recent Middle Eastern refugees are on food stamps and 73% receive free healthcare – we will also be taking money directly from Americans’ Social Security and Medicare Trust Funds to provide retirement benefits for refugees. No one even knows what the real costs of this refugee expansion will be because it has not even been ascertained.
Amazingly the Save Act did not offset a single penny of increased refugee resettlement costs. You have to wonder why Syrian refugees are not settled in a safe zone in Syria.
For the cost of resettling one refugee in America,
We could successfully resettle 12 refugees in Syria.
Texas was in line to receive a significant number of the 10,000 Syrians that Obama has told the U.N. he will accept over the next year. However, Governor Abbott has released a statement and a copy of a letter to Obama, confirming that Texas will not be accepting any more refugees from Syria.
Additionally, Governor Abbott has urged Obama not to accept more Syrian Refugees anywhere in the United States out of concern over the federal government’s inadequate screening methods for incoming migrants.
Rep. Brian Babin, R-Texas, has introduced HR 3314, a bill in the House that would halt the entire program nationwide. It has 46 co-sponsors, and the recent attacks are likely to garner more support for the bill. Babin is urging immediate action on his Resettlement Accountability National Security Act (H.R. 3314), as well as leading a letter to House leadership asking that a provision be included in the year-end spending bill that defunds the Administration’s foolish plans to accept more Syrian refugees.
Speaker Ryan has thus far refused to allow the provision to be included in the spending bill.
