Tharp: Best and Worst of Last Week

Anytime you see someone conflating the terms immigrant with illegal immigrant or illegal alien, as the City Council did, beware. Those who engage in such sophistry cannot be trusted.

Tharp: Best and Worst of Last Week

My best and worst pick from last week.

The best thing to happen was that Missouri became the 12th state to pass an Article V Convention of States Resolution.  Within one week, we had Texas become the 11th state, and then right on the heels of Texas came Missouri as number 12.  I can’t wait to see who will be lucky 13.

Certainly one of the worst things that occurred last week was on the local San Antonio level. Unfortunately the liberal San Antonio City Council never saw a check they didn’t want to write or a radical, left-wing cause they didn’t want to advance.  Last week, Councilman Ray Saldana and the rest of the San Antonio City Council proposed spending $150k of our tax dollars from the city’s emergency fund, on illegal aliens rather than spending it on San Antonio citizens.  This is money badly needed for road repair and upkeep. It is money that could be applied to lower the sky high property taxes.  It is money taken from the city’s emergency fund, although there is clearly no emergency.

Raiding money from the city’s emergency fund to spend on nonemergency items is likely illegal.  Teaching and encouraging illegal aliens how to skirt the law is definitely unethical and imprudent.

Instead of using our tax dollars to fund important priorities for legal citizens living in San Antonio, they preferred to spend those dollars teaching illegal aliens how to skirt the law and overwhelm the system with legal maneuvering to prevent deportation.   If they want to fund “No your rights” workshops, for illegals, then they should do it with their own money, not tax payers money.

Why would they act so irresponsibly and foolishly?  They do it because they stand against the rule of law, and they hate that the current administrations, both state and federal, are seeking to enforce current immigration laws.  Their goal is to undermine the rule of law and push their open borders agenda.  this is just a part of their war on traditional American culture and values. Left wing radicals are doing everything they can to destroy this nation’s culture and sovereignty. They hate what America stands for and constantly seek to change it from a Constitutional Republic to an open borders Marxist strong-hold.  Also being radical left wing politicians, they ignore the financial consequences of their deleterious policies and act as if they are playing with monopoly money since it is not coming from their pockets.

The City Council diverting $150,000 of our taxes for their own anti-American political agenda is just one more example of how liberals use government to fund their radical agendas.  But could this be about even more than that? Who will be running the nonprofit organizations that will administer the program?  It is not beyond the pale to ask whose brother, uncle, or cousin might be the recipient of those ill-gotten tax dollars.  We have seen far too often how these pet projects are often promoted by dishonest politicians who have ulterior motives and personally benefit from the programs for which they advocate.

Anytime you see someone conflating the terms immigrant with illegal immigrant or illegal alien, as the City Council did, beware.  Those who engage in such sophistry cannot be trusted.

Legals and illegals are two totally separate groups of people, and a completely different set of laws and rules apply to each.  Radical leftist intentionally conflate these terms to deceive and misinform.  They lump the indigent dirt farmer who sneaks in to our country, in to the same group as scientists and doctors who apply and receive legal access to immigrate to America.  The former has no means of support and often becomes a financial burden to be borne by taxpayers.  The latter have enough wealth to be self-sustaining and are likely to contribute to society.  The former has not been cleared medically to be free of communicable diseases. The latter has gone through a medical screening process, ensuring that he is not a disease carrier.  The former has not passed any background check to ensure he was not a criminal in his country of origin. The latter obviously has.  But to hear the leftists talk about illegal aliens, you would think that every uneducated popper who sneaks in to this country is a wealthy rocket scientist with children who will all be honors students.  Reality belies the liberal myth.  Reality is that there are few to no rocket scientists, doctors, physicists, or wealthy philanthropists sneaking across our borders illegally.  But there are MS13 members, drug pushers, Muslim terrorists, dangerous criminals, and plenty of uneducated indigents who will become burdens on taxpayers.

Until we change our welfare system so that we are not a magnet for freeloaders, stamp out all communicable diseases, and stamp out all terrorism, we must differentiate between legal immigration and illegal immigration.
